Last week I tweeted out a need for an easy, quick, last minute homemade pizza crust and two wonderful friends sent me back recipes! Funny thing, it was the same recipe! Big thanks to @adjunctmom and @rhoni_renee for their help!
Here’s the recipe:
1 package active dry yeast
1 tsp white sugar
1 cup warm water
2 1/2 cups bread flour
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tsp salt
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Dissolve yeast and sugar in water, and let stand until creamy.
Stir in flour, salt and oil. Blend until smooth. Let rest 5 minutes.
Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round. Transfer to a lightly greased pizza pan or baker’s peel dusted with cornmeal.
**here’s where the recipes varied
@adjunctmom : bake crust lightly in oven until lightly brown, flip and bake other side… top and finish baking
@rhoni_renee : Spread with toppings and bake for 15 to 20 minutes
It can actually be split into two crusts if you prefer a thinner pizza.
The night I tweeted for the recipe I tried it, making one thick crust pizza and it was delicious! My plan was to make pizza for the kids and something else for Hubby and myself but gosh it smelled so good!!! I brushed my pan with olive oil and sprinkled on some italian herbs and cornmeal so it looked a little more like Domino’s pizza.
This past Saturday we split the dough in half (one for the kids and one for us) and then split the kid’s dough in half again so they could each have their own personal pizza.
We decided to take our up a notch:
Taco beef, Taco Sauce, Pace Picante, Green and Red Peppers, Onions, Cheeeeeeeese and Sour Cream (not in the picture). This mexican pizza was AWESOME!
Next time I’m making homemade alfredo sauce and chicken pizza!
Thanks ladies for the great recipe!
